Before i made my designs i sampled different mixed media to see what i would like to use when making my final project
The first piece of sampling that i did involved tearing up masking tape and sticking it on paper. next i painted it green, once it had dried i put blue on one side and red on the other to get a different effect
Now i used scrunched up[ tissue painted green to see what kind of effect i would get, i did not really like how this looked so i did not use it later on.
Next i used a white pastel on paper and painted over it to see the effect it would create
Now i stuck strips of newspaper down and painted it brown. i thought this made a nice bark texture but even so i went with a diffrent style for my tree in the end.
because i liked the effect that was created when using masking tape i replicated it again but on a larger scale with different colours.
The colours that i uesed this time was mostly yellow and then oi blended it into green to give the colour different shades and i really liked the colour that i got.
This time i added watered down green onto the page and then added bits of other colours, i was trying to recreate grass with flowers but i learnt while doing this that i needed to check the amount of paint and water i was using.
This sample was created by painting onto bubblewrap and imprinting onto the paper.
Next i painted the paper blue and let it dry and after that i painted on top of the dry paint but before it dried i scraped it off in a cross hatching style.
I repeated the bubble wrap techniques from earlier with green this time to see what kind of effect i could create with a different colour.
again i tried using bubble wrap using green paint but this time was different because i used a dark green and painted the background to see the contrast in colours.
i decided to try and make a sky/cloud effect and to do this i made a bunch of different shades of blue and used a sponge to go over the same area.
Finally this one included me using the cross hatching but with brown and green paint which gave me a very interesting nature like effect to the page which became useful later on.
